yAnE thavamudaiyEn

GhOsti infront of BhoodhathAzhwar reciting pAsurams. AdiyEn wants to mention here that, Thirumangai Azhwar had dedicated 10 pAsurams, describing about the thirukadalmallai adiyArs' in Periya Thirumozhi (2.6). All the pAsurams explains the concept of "carama parva nilai" in prapatti.

"....thalasayanaththuraivArai eNNAthE iruppArai iRaipozhuthum eNNOmE" -Periya Thirumozhi-2.6.1
"....kadalmallai thalasayanam, AreNNum nenjudaiAr avar emmai AlwarE" -Periya Thirumozhi-2.6.2
"....thalasayanathuraiginra gnAnaththin oliyuruvai ninaivAren nAyagarE" -Periya Thirumozhi-2.6.3
"....thalasayanathuraivArai kondAdum nenjudaiyAr avarengal kuladheivamE" -Periya Thirumozhi-2.6.4
"....thalasayanam nachchi thozhuvArai nachchu enran nannenjE" -Periya Thirumozhi-2.6.5
"....thalasayanam valangol manaththAravarai valangol en madanenjE" -Periya Thirumozhi-2.6.6
"....thalasayanam nenjil thozhuvArai thozhuvAi en thooinenjE" -Periya Thirumozhi-2.6.7
"....thalasayanam thozhuneer manaththavarai thozhuvAi en thooinenjE" -Periya Thirumozhi-2.6.8
"....thalasayanam vanangum manaththAravarai vanangu enthan madanenjE" -Periya Thirumozhi-2.6.9
"....thalasayanaththu adigaladiyE ninaiyum adiyavargal thammadiyAn" -Periya Thirumozhi-2.6.10

Is there any bhAgyam greater than, being an adiyAr of Kadalmallai Sthalasayana Perumal ?
Thats why BhoodhathAzhwar celebrates himself as "yAnE thavamudaiyEn". IrandAm thiruvandhAthi -74.

Azhwars' Birthplace

The above is the BhoodhathAzhwar birthplace, where Azhwar took birth in Kurukkaththi flower as Gathai amsam of emperumAn in Aiypassi, Avittam nakshatram. This place is inside the nandavanam which is just opposite to the temple and under the control of Archealogy Survey of India (Central Govt.). Publics were not allowed generally inside this area. Near to this place, there is a tank (called Azhwar Tank) and also a mandapam in dilapitated state. From the roadside, Azhwars birthplace can not be seen. This place is inside the nandavanam area near the Azhwar tank.

PoigaiAzhwar, PeyAzhwar along with BhoodhathAzhwar

Poigai Azhwar along with BhoodhathAzhwar during PoigaiAzhwar Sattrumarai at thirukadalmallai.
Poigai Azhwar enjoys emperumAn along with BhoodhathAzhwar by reciting "vaiyam thagaliyA.."

After both the Azhwars performed mangalAsAsanam to emperumAn, now it's the turn for PeyAzhwar to perform mangalAsAsanam: As both the outside and inside darkness were ridden by PoigaiAzhwar and BhoodhathAzhwar respectively, PeyAzhwar could now visualize emperumAn with pirAttiyAr first.

"thirukkandEn ponmEni kandEn thigazhum
arukkan aniniramum kandEn - serukkilarum
ponnAzhi kandEn puri sangam kaikkandEn
ennAzhi vaNNanpAl inRu " - moonRAm thiruvandhAthi . 1

nArananai kandEn

The next day, thirumanjanam to Sri Nilamangai Thayar sametha Sri Ulaguiyya NinrAn during PeyAzhwar sattrumarai.
"pagalkandEn nArananai kandEn - kanavil

vAnthigazhum sOthi vadivu" - IrandAm thiruvandhAthi - 81.

Enjoy the beauty of Divya dampathis during thirumanjanam !!

Unanswerable Question (?)

Sri Perumal and Azhwar purappAdu. Azhwar stood opposite to Perumal which adiyEn didnt covered up.
"adimoonRil ivvulagam anRalanthAi pOlum
adimoonRu iranthu avani kondAi - padininRa
neerOdha mEni nedumAlE ninnadiayi
yarOtha vallAr arinthu?" - IrandAm ThiruvandhAthi -5.

BhoodhathAzhwar ends that pAsuram with a question mark and still it remains unanswerable.

thamarullum mAmallai

Sri Perumal, thAyAr and BhoodhathAzwar - ekAntha sEvai after thirumanjanam

"anbE thagaliya aarvamE neiyAga
inburugu sinthai iduthiriyA - nanburugi
gnAna chudarvilakku yERinEn nAranaRkku
gnAnath thamizh purintha nAn" - IrandAm ThiruvandhAdhi .1.

Azhwar after thirumanjanam with saththupadi along with Sri Nilamangai thayar sametha Sri Ulaguiyya NinrAn. Azhwar dressed up with his amsam ("Gathai"). This sEvai of azhwar along with his amsam - Gathai - is done only once during this avatAra day utsavam. Adiyen taken a close view of azhwar standing along with his amsam - Gathai -
At the bottom of Gathai, one can carefully look at the carved image of bhoodhathAzhwar in standing posture.
".....thalasaynathu uraivArai, kondAdum nenjudaiyAr avarengal kulatheivamE" Periya Thirumozhi 2.6.4.

Sri Perumal-Thayar-Azhwar Thirumanjanam

"....ilangolisEr aravindham pOnRu neenda kaNNAnai, kaNNAra kandu kondEn" Periya Thirumozhi - 2.5.8.
During the same day evening hours, alankAra thirumanjanam was performed to Sri Nilamangai thayar samEtha Sri Ulaguiyya NinrAn and BhoodhathAzhwar. The above picture was taken after sandal thirumanjanam to Sri Perumal and thAyAr. Azhwar stood side along Sri PerumAl, thAyAr which adiyEn covered separately in next picture.
Watch Azhwar's majestic posture during thirumanjanam!
"enpiravi theera irainginEn innamuthA
anbE thagali aliththAnai - nanpugazhsEr
seethathAr muthugal sErum kadalmallai
bhoodhathAr ponnangazhal"

Azhwar's Challenge

BhoodhathAzwar after purappAdu along streets was over, entering into the temple.
Azhwar celebrates himself : IrandAm ThiruvandhAthi -74.
"yAnE thavam seithEn yEzhpirappum eppozhuthum
yAnE thavam udaiyEn emperumAn - yAnE -
iruntha-thamizh nan mAlai inaiyadikkE sonnEn
perunthamizhan nallEn perithu"
BhoodhathAzhwar challenges others of his gift (thavam udaiyEn). He is the one who presented garlands made up of thamizh pAsurams to Lords' divine Lotus feet (iruntha-thamizh nan mAlai inaiyadikkE sonnEn). Hence he called himself as "perunthamizhan". Did any one qualified for this title other than BhoodhathAzhwar?

"kadumparimEl kaRkiyi nAnkandu kondEn kadipozhilsoozh kadalmallai thalasanathE"
Periya Thirumozhi - 2.5.3.
Eventhough the pasuram was by Thirumangai Azhwar, this is one of adiyEns' most favourite pAsuram on Sri Sthalasayana PerumAl. In this pasuram, azhwar mentions the name of Utsavar perumal in the first line: "udamburuvil moonROnrAi moorthy vErAi, ulaguiyya ninRAnai".

Thiruveedhi PurappAdu

After mangalAsAsanam to Sri GnAna PirAn was over, azhwar came in mAdaveethi streets to shower grace on adiyArs. One can witness the joy in His face by looking closer of him. Azhwar came into the streets of thirukadalmallai, by singing:
"pArAyathu undumizhntha pavalathoonai padukadalil amudhaththai parivAikeeNda seerAnai
eMAnai thondar thangal sinthaiyullE mulaithezhuntha theengarumbinai
pOrAnai kombosiththa pOrERinai punarmarutham iranadantha poRkundrinai
kArAnai idar kadintha karpagaththai KANDATHU NAAN KADALMALLAI THALASAYANATHE"

MangalAsAsanam to GnAna PirAn

Azhwar came out from temple and ready for going to Sri Gnana Piran Sannidhi for mangalasasanam to Thiruvalavendhai Piran. This sannidhi is at the back of the lighthouse hill. Here perumAl is in Varaha avataram holding Bhoomi pirAttiyAr at right side in His lap. Hence Thiruvalavendhai. This is similar to Thiruvidavendhai (PirAttiyAr at left side) but opposite in the position of PirAttiyar seating position in the lap of Sri Varaha PerumAl. ThirumEni of Thiruvalavendhai perumAl is made up of ChunnAmbu kalavai with Varnam. This is a small temple inside the caves of a small hill. The pAsuram goes like this: "EnathinuruvAgi nilamangaiyezhil kondAn, vAnathilavar muraiyAl magizhnthEthi valankolla, kAnaththin kadalmallaith thalasayanath thuraiginra, gnAnathiN oliyuruvai ninaivAren nAyagarE" - Periya Thirumozhi, 2-6-3. While going to the Sannidhi, adiyEn captured the picturesque view of Azhwar moving behind the backdrop of Mahabalipuram rock sculptures.
After mangalAsAsanam to Sri GnAna Piran, theertham, prasAdam, mariyadhai was given to BhoodhathAzhwar. Then we received prasAdams. ThirukOttiyUr Madhavan Swamin also came to witness this event of MangalAsAsanam to Sri Gnana Piran by BhoodhathAzhwar. Bhattar gave the historic information about the Sannidhi and also one information about the moolavar Varaha perumal. The moolavar as adiyEn told, is made up of sunnAmbu paste with colour (varNam) on it. Here the pirAttiAr is sitting on the right side lap of Sri Varaha Perumal. Left hand of PerumAl holding divine feet of PirAttiyAr, while the another hand of perumAl holding pirAttiyAr on His right lap. Indeed that was a great divine darshan !. While showing arathi, bhattar also showed one finger of perumAl which holds pirAttiyAr, wearing golden ring. It is really adiyEns bhAgyam to view that, and it is really natural in perumAls finger.

BhoodhathAzhwar ThiruavatAra mahOrsavam

Dear BhagavathAs,
adiyen attended bhoodhathAzhwar thiruavathAra mahOrsavam celebrations at thirukadalmallai (Mahabalipuram) divyadesam on 31-Oct-06. AdiyEn want to share the day thoughts and events with others. First in the early hours of the day, thirumanjanam was done to moolavar(BhoodhathAzhwar) and after that, Azhwar (utsavar) moved for mangalAsAsanam to Sri Sthalasayana Perumal. AdiyEn taken the picture of Azhwar Pinnazhagu when Azhwar was performing mangalAsAsanam to Perumal. Really it was great to watch that and see the way (kambeeram) how azhwar seats. After mangalAsAsanam performed to Sri Sthalasayana Perumal, Azhwar was given theertham, satAri, mariyAdhai, etc., Then azhwar went for mangalAsAsanam to Sri Nilamangai Thayar (separate sannidhi). After that, mangalAsAsanam to Sri AndAl, Sri Lakshmi Nrusimhar, Sri Seethai sametha Ramar, Lakshmanar. Once mangalAsAsanam was over inside the temple, azhwar came outside temple to perform mangalAsAsanam to Sri GnAna Piran Sannidhi (thiruvalavendhai).
